1328 Blades of Grass Becomes F-Grass

A recent creation by Ai Weiwei, this art installation is made up of 1328 blades industrial cast iron grass-looking spikes to form an elegant calligraphic “F”. Grass is the most common and ignorable part of nature. Though small and fragile, it is strong and tenacious. It grows even stronger when trampled on. Ai used cast iron spikes as a symbol of “Do not to trample”. “F Grass” implicitly expressed a challenge to authority and power. Despite government oppression, nothing can stop people from freely expressing their thoughts. This has become more than an eye-catching attraction in Harbour Green Park, this piece of grass meadow plunges viewers in deep thoughts and endless questions.
